GameChanger Alternatives for Youth Sports (2026)
Five GameChanger alternatives for youth sports scorekeeping, live streaming and showing the score on a gym TV. Prices checked October 2026.
Article Contents

Your team uses GameChanger because everyone else in the league does. It works, but parents keep asking why they have to pay to see box scores, grandparents can't find the stream, and the gym has a TV on the wall that only ever shows the stream, never a proper scoreboard.
GameChanger is the biggest youth sports app in the US, and for good reason. But depending on what you need, a different tool may fit better, or work alongside it. We compared five alternatives below. Every price was checked on each tool's own website or App Store listing in October 2026.
Full disclosure: KeepTheScore is our product. We say where it falls short too.
GameChanger: what it does well, and where it falls short
GameChanger, owned by Dick's Sporting Goods, combines scorekeeping, live streaming, stats and team management in one app.
What GameChanger does well
- Scorekeeping for dozens of sports, with detailed stats for baseball and softball.
- Free live streaming in 1080p from a phone. When you keep score while streaming, the score appears on the video automatically.
- Team messaging, scheduling and RSVPs, free for coaches and team staff.
- A huge user base, so parents often have the app already.
Where it falls short
- Fans pay for the extras. Plus costs $9.99 a month or $39.99 a year, and Premium costs $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year. A Team Pass that covers every follower costs $239 a season for Plus or $449 for Premium.
- Baseball and softball fans can watch only five live streams for free. Other sports stream free.
- GameChanger documents no full-screen scoreboard for a gym TV or LED wall, only ways to cast the stream to a TV.
When GameChanger makes sense: a baseball or softball team that wants stats, streaming and team chat in one app, and whose parents are happy to pay for box scores.
Do you need an all-in-one app?
GameChanger bundles four jobs: keeping score, streaming video, tracking stats and running the team. Many teams only need one or two of them. If the stream is the point, a streaming app is enough. If the problem is that nobody in the gym can see the score, you need a scoreboard, not another app.
The alternatives
1. SidelineHD
Best for: free streams to YouTube and Facebook, with the score on the video.
SidelineHD is a phone app that streams games straight to Facebook and YouTube, where families already are.
Pros
- Free to stream and free to watch on Facebook and YouTube.
- A built-in score overlay that anyone on the team can update through a shareable link.
- Baseball, softball, volleyball, basketball, soccer, hockey, lacrosse and water polo, and it works with RTMP cameras such as Mevo and GoPro.
Cons
- Pro Access costs $5.99 a month or $35.99 a year, and its extra features focus on baseball and softball.
- Team prices are listed only as in-app purchases from $199, without a clear explanation of the tiers.
- No full-screen scoreboard for a venue screen.
2. TeamSnap
Best for: clubs and leagues that want registration, scheduling and streaming in one place.
TeamSnap is team management software used across hundreds of sports.
Pros
- A free plan for teams with fewer than 15 players.
- Live streaming is built in and free for every team in TeamSnap ONE, its product for clubs and leagues.
- Scheduling, availability and messaging for parents.
Cons
- The team plans (Premium at $10.83 a month billed yearly, Ultra at $13.75) don't include streaming; it comes with a TeamSnap ONE club.
- Club and league pricing is quote only.
- Replays and 1080p streaming need the paid TeamSnap+ add-on.
3. iScore
Best for: baseball and softball scorekeepers who want deep stats.
iScore is a scorekeeping app for baseball, softball, basketball, football and soccer, with a live play-by-play "scorecast" that fans follow in a separate app.
Pros
- Very detailed baseball and softball stats.
- The scorekeeping app is free to download.
- Fans can watch live scorecasts for free in the iScore Central app.
Cons
- No video. iScore's own App Store listing says scorecasts carry "No Video".
- Only five sports.
- Extras are in-app purchases, such as a $19.99 team website.
4. KeepTheScore
Best for: showing the live score on the gym TV, and putting your own scoreboard on any stream.

KeepTheScore is a scoreboard that runs in any browser. You update it from your phone, and it shows full screen on a TV, a projector or an LED wall, as an overlay on your stream, and on parents' phones via a link.

Pros
- Full-screen scoreboards for basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, hockey, wrestling, lacrosse and more, with game clocks, shot clocks, fouls and periods.
- Works as a browser source in OBS, Streamlabs or vMix, in your team colours, with logos on a paid plan.
- Works with GameChanger: GameChanger accepts a stream from OBS, so you can put a KeepTheScore scoreboard on the video and still stream to your GameChanger followers.
- Parents follow the score from a link or QR code, with no app and no login.
Cons
- It is a scoreboard, not a streaming service. To stream video you need OBS, Streamlabs or a similar tool.
- No player stats, box scores or team messaging.
- The free scoreboard carries small KeepTheScore branding; paid plans start at $14 a month.

5. ScoreBird
Best for: schools with a fixed scoreboard and a production stream.
ScoreBird, by Nevco, is a small device that reads your existing scoreboard controller and sends the score to your stream and to web scoreboards.
Pros
- The score comes straight from the real scoreboard, with nobody typing it in twice.
- Works with OBS, vMix, Wirecast, StreamYard, Hudl, NFHS Network, Boxcast and more.
- Supports 16 sports.
Cons
- Plans start at $500 a year for one venue, with no free tier.
- Needs a compatible scoreboard controller.
- Built for schools, not for a single travel team.

So which one should you use?
- Baseball or softball team that wants stats, streaming and team chat in one app: stay on GameChanger.
- Free streams on YouTube or Facebook with a score: SidelineHD.
- A club or league that also needs registration and scheduling: TeamSnap.
- The deepest baseball stats, no video needed: iScore.
- The score on the gym TV, or your own scoreboard on any stream: KeepTheScore.
- A school with a fixed scoreboard and a production crew: ScoreBird.
Bottom line
GameChanger is hard to beat as an all-in-one app for baseball and softball. The gaps are a scoreboard for the people in the gym and a stream overlay in your own design. You don't have to switch apps to fill them: many teams keep GameChanger for stats and add a scoreboard for the room.

How we checked
We read each tool's own website, App Store listing and help pages in October 2026. Where a help page couldn't be loaded directly, we used the vendor's own text as shown in search results. Prices are US prices.
Common Questions About GameChanger Alternatives
"Is there a free alternative to GameChanger?"
Yes. SidelineHD streams to YouTube and Facebook for free, with a score on the stream. TeamSnap has a free plan for teams under 15 players. iScore's scorekeeping app is free to download. KeepTheScore's scoreboards are free to start, with paid plans from $14 a month.
"Do parents have to pay to watch GameChanger streams?"
For baseball and softball, GameChanger lets every user watch up to five live streams for free; after that, fans need a paid plan. Live streams of other sports, such as basketball, volleyball and soccer, are free to watch. Play-by-play, box scores and full game videos are paid features.
"Can I show the GameChanger score on the gym TV?"
GameChanger documents ways to put its stream on a TV, by casting, HDMI or a smart TV browser, but not a full-screen scoreboard. To show the score on its own, open a KeepTheScore scoreboard full screen on the TV and update it from your phone.
"Can I use KeepTheScore and GameChanger together?"
Yes. GameChanger accepts a stream from OBS for advanced users. Add a KeepTheScore scoreboard to OBS as a browser source, then send the OBS output to GameChanger with the stream key from the app. Your fans keep watching in GameChanger, with your own scoreboard on the video.
"What is the best GameChanger alternative for baseball stats?"
iScore. It tracks detailed baseball and softball stats, and fans can follow a live play-by-play scorecast. It has no video, so pair it with a streaming app such as SidelineHD, which integrates with iScore for baseball and softball.
