Frequently Asked Questions

Goals and points for both teams in the official goals-points notation (e.g. 2-10), with an optional derived total like 2-10 (16), plus the match clock, half indicator, and injury time. It works pitch-side on a phone, on a clubhouse TV or LED panel, and as an OBS overlay for streamed matches.

Yes — the scorekeeper has a dedicated two-pointer button for kicks from on or outside the 40m arc under the 2025 Football Review Committee rules. It adds 2 to the points column, so the scoreline stays in standard goals-points notation. New to the notation? See our guide to how Gaelic football scoring works.

The clock counts up like a referee's watch: 0:00 to 30:00 in the first half for club football, or 35-minute halves for senior inter-county — you choose the half length in Setup. At the end of a half it runs into injury time, and you can show an injury-time indicator (+2') that you control from the scorekeeper panel.

Yes — hurling and camogie use the same goals-points scoring, so the scoreboard works for them out of the box; just ignore the two-pointer button, which is a football-only rule. A dedicated hurling board with its own terminology is on the roadmap.

Yes — the GAA scoreboard is free to use, with no signup required. A paid plan unlocks extras like club branding, custom colours everywhere, and removing ads.

Coaches, parents running youth games, school PE teachers, club organisers, tournament directors, and streamers who broadcast amateur or club matches without a dedicated graphics package.

Yes — the controller link works on as many phones and laptops as needed simultaneously, so two officials, a coach plus assistant, or two team captains can share scoring duty. The viewer link stays in sync everywhere.

No — KeepTheScore runs in any modern browser on phones, laptops, smart TVs, and projectors. No download, no app, no account needed for a basic game.

Hardware scoreboards (expensive, fixed install), sport-specific stats apps, basic OBS text sources, and Google Sheets. KeepTheScore is the fastest free option when you specifically want a visible, shareable scoreboard and an OBS scorebug overlay.
